Chicago to Host 2024 Democratic National Convention
City chosen over Atlanta and New York
Event expected to draw thousands of delegates and visitors
The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced on Tuesday. The convention will take place at the United Center from August 19 to August 22.
Chicago was chosen over Atlanta and New York City for the honor of hosting the convention. DNC Chair Jaime Harrison said that Chicago was selected because of its "strong track record of hosting major events," its "diverse and vibrant population," and its "commitment to Democratic values."“Chicago, with its rich Democratic history and commitment to inclusion, will be a fitting host city for our national convention,” said Harrison.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention is expected to draw thousands of delegates and visitors to Chicago. The event will also have a significant economic impact on the city. According to the DNC, the convention is expected to generate $200 million in revenue for Chicago businesses.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be the first to be held in Chicago since 1992. The city has also hosted the Republican National Convention four times, most recently in 2016.
